This book details the work of the Quakers in the Middle East from 1876 to 1975. In particular, it details the development of the Brummana High School in Lebanon over the course of 50 years. The Friends Service Council is now known as the Quaker Peace and Social Witness, and is one of the central committees of Britain Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends - the national organisation of Quakers in Britain. In 1947, the Friends Service Council received the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with the American Friends Service Committee, on behalf of the Quakers.
