Text mostly in Japanese with some English. An uncommon volume outside Japan. Marcel Broodthaers (1924-1976) was a man of many talents - a poet, filmmaker and artist -using found objects, everyday items, photography and text to create visual puns in collages and installations. The book looks at Broodthaers films and is divided into five themes: "Relationship between image and text (narrative)," "Translation," "Reading the archive," "Fiction and reality" and "Still and moving image." It includes the work of other artists, such as Cindy Sherman, Pierre Huyghe, Isaac Julien, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, Dayanita Singh, Ana Torfs and Miwa Yanagi. There is a short three page insert in English by Chinatsu Makiguchi before the final photos at the rear of the book.
