Louis Marcoussis, formerly Ludwik Kazimierz Wladyslaw Markus or Ludwig Casimir Ladislas Markus, (1878 or 1883-1941) was a Polish-French avant-garde painter active primarily in Paris. Prefaced by Dora Vallier, the Catalogue Raisonne of the engraved work of Louis Marcoussis was established by Solange Millet. This reference work was published in Denmark by Forlaget Cordelia in Copenhagen in 1991. This directory of the artist's graphic work covers a creative period of around forty years, from 1901 to 1941. The author lists a set of 231 references: engravings (etchings and aquatints, burins, drypoints) and lithographs. In addition, at the end of the book, we will discover the graphic works produced by the artist for books, albums and illustrated magazines. This complete catalogue opens with a "Skeleton composition" dated circa 1901-1903 and ends with a portrait of Le Corbusier, a drypoint, produced in 1941. In 1972, the National Library of Paris will organize a major exhibition on the engraved work of the "Darling of poets", as Paul Eluard had nicknamed him. The condition of the book is very good and the pages inside the book are clean. Minor shelf wear on the dustjacket.
