The Paintings and Calligraphy of Chiang Chao-Shen (Jiang Zhao Shen ) National Museum of History Taipei, Taiwan Chiang was a former deputy director of the museum and worked at the museum for 27 years. He was held in very high regard as an expert on Chinese art, approached art as a gentleman scholar of the traditional stamp, for whom its appreciation and creation was a simple fact of life and not the preserve of academia or technocrats. Chiang Chao-Shen's works reveal a rare synergy of classical elegance, rigorous technique and robust individuality that has brought new vitality to the literati painting tradition.
