This rare, antiquarian, First Edition, political and world history book, entitled "Refugees 1960: A Report in Words and Drawings" is written by Kaye Webb and Ronald Searle. On the day of the inauguration of World Refugee Year in Britain on 1 June 1959, the UK Committee announced a target of two million pounds. There are still 110,000 refugees left in Europe alone, of whom 22,000 under the mandate of the UNHCR are mouldering away in camps as most of them have been for the last 15 years. Believing that first-hand reporting might stir pity, open pocket books and even relax restrictions more effectively than speeches or statistics , the office of the UNHCR invited Ronald Searle and Kaye Webb to visit some of the camps in Austria, Italy and Greece. Published in 1960 by Penguin Books in London, this First Edition, paperback book is in very good condition overall, with the pages being in excellent, as new condition, with very minor ageing spots on some pages within this book, and very minor wear on the orange paperback cover of the book.
