Religio Medici (The Religion of a Doctor) by Sir Thomas Browne is a spiritual testament and early psychological self-portrait. Published in 1643 after an unauthorized version was distributed the previous year, it became a European best-seller which brought its author fame at home and abroad. This copy is from 1898 with brown boards - very faded at the spine - and gold lettering Rough cut page edges to both the leading edges and bottom. Gilt coloured edges at the top. Owners names appear on the ffep and opposite the title page (this one dated 1910) Binding is still good and the pages - with the exception of a little staining on the first and last few pages - are clean.
