100% blue agave raised in the highlands of Jalisco, aged first in Bourbon barrels, then to perfection in Oloroso casks. About twenty years ago, Inaki Orozco inherited 620 acres of land in the Jalisco State. The land had been passed down in the family for nearly two hundred years, but had never been developed or planted. Inaki saw the potential and -- over the next few years -- he planted 175,000 shoots of Weber Blue Agave on his land. The first harvest in 2008 yielded the first bottles of Riazul Tequila. Today, Riazul's three core Tequilas are highly-rated and award-winning examples of Mexican pride. Riazul has become extremely popular because... well, because their Tequilas are so rocking good. And now Tequila fans everywhere are rejoicing with the first special, limited edition release of Riazul Extra Anejo. But to just say "Extra Anejo" does not do this fine Tequila justice. Their core Anejo is aged two years. This "Extra" is aged for a total of four years -- three of those in ex-Bourbon barrels and the another full year in Oloroso Sherry casks. Say WHAT!? You read that right. This fine, premium, 100% blue agave Tequila is aged like some of the finest Single Malt Whiskies in the world. And now you can have some too. Smartass corner: Riazul's agave is raised in the Jalisco Highlands -- more than 7000 feet above sea level. This yields an agave with a higher sugar content and smoother character.
