Robert Hill: A Tribute from Friends and Colleagues on His Eightieth Birthday 1979 Foreword by George Porter. Limited Edition of 120 copies printed by Will Carter at the Rampant Lions Press 1979. Robert Hill (1899 - 1991), known as Robin Hill, was a British plant biochemist who, in 1939, demonstrated the 'Hill reaction' of photosynthesis, proving that oxygen is evolved during the light requiring steps of photosynthesis. He also made significant contributions to the development of the Z-scheme of oxygenic photosynthesis. In 1922, he joined the Department of Biochemistry at Cambridge and continued his research there until his death in 1991. This publication was presented, with affection and admiration of his friends, to Robin Hill on his 80th birthday. It contains reprints of some of his most important contributions to our understanding of photosynthesis. In very good condition throughout.
