We loved these cute little planters when we first saw them, and thought they would make a wonderful gift. They come with compost and 'Pickwick' crocus bulbs, which would normally flower outside in late winter or early spring - but if they are potted up and kept on a sunny windowsill inside the house, there's a good chance that the warmer temperatures will encourage them to flower a couple of months earlier. They're perfect for adding a wonderful splash of colour during the darker months. This set comes complete with a ceramic robin pot and purple-flowering crocus bulbs. They are so easy to grow and will put on a really pretty display when in full bloom. After the flowers have faded, the crocus can be planted out in the garden where they will come up year after year, spreading in time to form a generous drift. The robin pot can be reused for Christmas. Growing instructions: Place the peat-free compost pellets in a suitable mixing container and add 200ml of lukewarm water. Allow to stand and expand for 30-60 minutes, drain off any access water and mix compost well. You may have more compost than you require and more water could be required if the mix is looking dry.Plant bulbs from August onwards. Half fill the planter with the compost. Place the bulbs with the nose upright nad cover with more compost and water sparingly. Be careful not to overwater. place in a cool, dark position (7-9degC). When the shoots are 4cm tall place in a light, warm position (18-20degC). Once in flower move to a cool, bright position to prolong life. Turn occasionally as the flowers will grow towards the light. Keep compost moist at all times. After purchase store in a cool and dry place. A novelty robin shaped planter with striped crocus bulbs, peat-free compost and growing culturals. Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten Position: bright filtered light (once the bulbs are starting to shoot) Soil: pebbles supplied Rate of growth: average Flowering period: February to March Hardiness: fully hardy
