A Royal Bayreuth piece, made using white-paste porcelain and manufactured in Tettau, Germany. The Function of this item is unknown, it has a handle over its small opening, so uses are limited, could be used as a novel cocktail stick holder, storing very large sewing needles, or displaying very small flowers. The hand painted image depicts two farm maids with sheep, a thatched cottage in the background, and all around bleak distant hills framed by clouds. Judging by the blue makers mark, it dates from 1902 to the late 1920s. Approx. Dimensions: 7cm W., 8.5cm H. Condition: very good, no visible cracks or chips, image remains clean although there are a few black marks.
