First signs that your cat is carrying too much weight: Ribs: you should be able to feel your cat's ribs, covered by just a small amount of fat. If you can't, your cat may be overweight. Waist: Look at your cat from above. You should be able to see a tucked-in waist. If you can't, your cat may be overweight. Abdomen: Does your cat have a hanging layer of fat instead of clearly visible "abdominal tuck"? If so, your cat might be overweight. Spine: Gently run your and down your cat's spine. you should be able to feel it under a little layer of fat. If you can't, your cat may be overweight.
