Paul Goodison is one of Great Britain's most prominent laser sailors with a host of international accolades to his name, including Olympic and European Championship titles and the number one spot in the ISAF world rankings. Goodison started sailing at the age of four and has been competing in the laser Standard since 1994. Training partner to Ben Ainslie in the lead up to the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Goodison finally earned his spot with Team GB for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games where he finished in heartbreaking fourth place. But Goodison was not to be held back and immediately reinstated his quest for an Olympic medal Winning an Olympic Gold in Qingdao at the Beijing Olympics. Sailing a laser is thought by many to be one of the purest forms of sailing. The simple set up and the option of three rigs, Standard, 4.7 and Radial makes it a great way to get out on the water whatever your shape, size or skill. As a one-design class it makes for tight racing - it's the best sailor who wins and not the person with the most expensive equipment.
