James Allan Ford. Season of Escape. Hodder and Stoughton,1963. 1st edition. No dj. VG cond. Some faint marks on cloth cover and slight signs of aging. No markings but owner's sig. in ink on fep. 317pp. A novel set in the Japanese prisoner-of-war camps and based on the Shamshuipo camp at Hong Kong. The author was held there after being captured at the fall of Hong Kong. His brother was executed and this novel is his story. Ford wrote 4 other novels in the '60s but was by profession a Scottish civil servant. This is a valuable account of life in this prison camp and can perhaps be regraded as a lightly fictionalised true story. This copy PS65
