Seduction Of The Minotaur (1st Edition, Includes Unclipped Dust Jacket)

This autobiographical novel is about a woman named Lillian, and her self-psychoanalysis. The setting is taken from Anais' diary account of her first trip to Acapulco in 1947, and the novel repeats much of the first part of "The Diary of Anais Nin, vol. V". The title refers to the Freudian concept of a "monster" in the subconscious confined by a "labyrinth". Since one should not kill one's own mind, repressed feelings must be "seduced" by developing conscious insight. Angela Anais Juana Antolina Rosa Edelmira Nin y Culmell (1903-1977) was a French-born American diarist, essayist, novelist, and writer of short stories and erotica. Born to Cuban parents in France, Nin was the daughter of the composer Joaquin Nin and the classically trained singer Rosa Culmell. Nin spent her early years in Spain and Cuba, about sixteen years in Paris (1924-1940), and the remaining half of her life in the United States, where she became an established author. Our book is in good condition, and the dust jacket is protected with an outer layer of thin plastic (?clingfilm?), and appears only lightly worn, mainly at the top edge. The book itself, bound in orange cloth with gilt title etc on the spine, is in very good condition, showing no external signs of age or wear. Inside, both endpapers are somewhat tanned, the binding is firm with no loose pages; all pages clean and bright; no sign of foxing. Curiously, the text begins on p.5, but there is no sign that any earlier pages may have been removed.
