'Poems and Carols' by Selwyn Image, 1894, bound with 'Diversi Colores' by Herbert Horne, 1891 These two rare and delicate books, designed and printed in the same format at the Chiswick Press, show a craftsman's grasp of form and an attractive directness of manner. Selwyn Image was artist, scholar, designer, and subsequently Slade Professor of Fine Art at Oxford. Herbert Horne was one of the founders of modern art history. Both played a part in the Arts and Crafts movement. Published by Woodstock Books, Spelsbury, Oxon, 1995, in the series Decadents, Symbolists, Anti-Decadents: Poetry of the 1890s, a series of facsimile reprints chosen and introduced by R K R Thornton and Ian Small. Attractive small hardcover with dust jacket and blue endpapers. Book and jacket both in excellent condition, free of notes and inscriptions.
