The active ingredient in Senokot is senna. Senna comes from senna fruit pods. Senna is a laxative that works to relieve constipation by stimulating the muscles in your bowel. This will help to move the build-up of poo through your system so you can have a bowel movement more easily and comfortably. Warnings and Precautions Not suitable for children under 12 years Not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding speak to your GP or Pharmacist for alternatives Do not use if: You are allergic to any of the ingredients this product contains You have a blockage or narrowing of your intestinal tract or bowel You have Paralysis or lack of muscle tone in your bowel You have Appendicitis or an inflammatory bowel disease You have Severe dehydration You have Persistent or undiagnosed abdominal complaints You have Faecal impaction or rectal bleeding for which you do not know the cause or blood in your poo You have already taken a laxative and are still constipated You have had a sudden change in your bowel habits which has lasted for more than 2 weeks You have Kidney or heart failure Speak to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product if: You have an intolerance to some sugars, as these tablets contain lactose. The other ingredients are potassium sorbate (E202), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), maltitol liquid (E965), xanthan gum, anti-foam emulsion, prune flavour (caramel colour E150a, ethanol, prune juice concentrate, vanilla bean extract, water), citric acid anhydrous and purified water Syrup containing: Calcium Sennosides 7.5mg/5ml
