Flexible Poppy wall lamp with opening petalsTo make the Poppy wall lamp what it is, it was not only necessary to have a flair for design and an eye for detail, but also a portion of knowledge about physics. The designers wanted to create a floral luminaire whose properties are amazingly close to those of a real plant. You don't have to be a biology genius to know that plants always follow the light and open and close their flowers with the rising and setting sun. And this is exactly what the Poppy wall lamp imitates. Although it does not follow the sun, it does follow the warmth of the light source, which is hidden in the hand-blown glass reflector at the end of the lamp arm. This is because the filigree slats attached to it are made of bimetal, which is known to change its shape when the temperature changes. Poppy takes up this physical effect. The slats, which represent the petals, unfold within two minutes of being switched on and immediately direct the light to the outside. Illuminated from the inside, the glass reflector also shines in a fascinating way. The wondrous light with which Poppy fills its surroundings can be directed in any conceivable direction. A sheath of beige textile surrounds the 75 cm metal flexible arm of the wall lamp, which makes Poppy so incredibly flexible. No matter whether the light is to be directed towards the ceiling, towards the floor or even into the centre of the room - Poppy makes it possible. This wall lamp is a special kind of design object that tempts you to switch it on and off again and again to marvel at the magnificent spectacle of the opening and closing blossom.
