' This announcement in The British Critic for April 1810 caused no stir, for the author, Percy Bysshe Shelley, was a seventeen-year-old Eton schoolboy and his his first published work. It is a short novel of extravagant fantasy, its characters and plot freely borrowed from the popular 'horror novels' of the day, but with original imagery destined to be used again and again in some of Shelley's greatest verse. Zastrozzi contains not only the hidden well-springs of a great poetic genius but also, as Dr. Eustace Chesser shows, unconsciously reveals Shelley's psycho-neurotic personality. This book contains the full text of the novel, reprinted for the first time this century, and the brilliant analysis by Dr. Chesser. Both are essential for a modern understanding of Shelley. 165 pp. This can be posted outside the EU for additional postage costs.
