Shire's 7' x 7' Barclay Area Summerhouse is a terrific way to make the most of a neglected or problematic corner of your yard. It's contemporary, fashionable, and has an open feel about it. If you want to spend your leisure time in a bright and lovely environment with fantastic views of the rest of your garden, the Barclay may be precisely what you're searching for. The stylish, contemporary appearance of the Barclay, as well as the wide-open feeling provided by the double doors and side windows, entices admirers. The generous headroom, combined with the full-length windows and doors, contributes to the light and open sense on the inside while also giving panoramic vistas. The rounded look of the summerhouse adds to its appeal and lends to those great, open vistas of the rest of your garden from the inside. The solid 34mm x 34mm framework of the Barclay Summerhouse gives it a robust feel that other summerhouses lack. The tongue and groove floor provides a lovely finished aesthetic as well as a stable basis on which to decorate your summerhouse without danger of overloading. The slow growing lumber used for Shire Summerhouses has a tighter grain, resulting in more strength and a longer life for the Barclay. Handcrafted, high-grade woodwork on the long-lasting, styrene-glazed windows and doors adds to the overall quality. The shiplap tongue and groove design will also help to keep the interior of the summerhouse dry. The most generally used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus), which is widely available at a low cost; however, all of Shire's garden buildings are made from high grade spruce (picea). Spruce is more resilient than pine and has a higher quality finish. This lumber is slow grown, as opposed to rapid grown timber from the United Kingdom and Eastern Europe. Slow grown timber has a tighter grain, less sap, and considerably fewer knots. As a result, the lumber used on Shire's log cabins is a more durable timber that will last far longer than other timbers used on log cabins. Spruce is thus the timber of choice for organisations such as Shire, which is always looking to make the best garden structure.
