The Shire Command Post Playhouse's walls are made of high-quality planed softwood in a robust tongue and groove shiplap pattern, keeping this fort safe from the elements. When compared to the fast-grown lumber used on cheaper playhouses from other manufacturers, the continental slow-grown wood utilised here has a tighter grain, more strength, and a longer life. The floor is also constructed of tongue and groove boards, while the roof is constructed with Oriented Strand Board (OSB) and roofing felt. The three fixed windows are glazed with environmentally friendly shatter resistant styrene, a safer alternative to glass, and both opening ports and the door include safety hinges to prevent stuck fingers. This Shire playhouse includes a dip-treated base coat as standard, with a top coat available as an option for a stronger, golden brown finish. As the Command Post does not arrive pre-painted, it is a blank canvas for you to personalise based on your preference. The manufacturer suggests putting a water-based top finish of your choosing to avoid deterioration of the lumber and so make the playhouse survive longer. The Shire Command Post Playhouse comes flat-packed for easy handling and assembly. All fittings and felt are included in the price, along with clear, easy-to-follow instructions, though assembly can be added if required.
