Sir Benjamin Brodie Bronze Laudatory Medal 1841 by William Wyon - 3" Diameter President of the Royal College Surgeons Obverse: Portrait of Benjamin Brodie, profile to left. Reverse: A pillar entwined with serpent, the base decorated an image of Asclepius, seated. Above, a cock surmounting an antique lamp which is being lighted by a kneeling, half-draped Hygeia. Struck on Brodie's retirement from St George's Hospital in 1840. Brodie was President of the College in 1844. Originally presented in a case ( not with our medal ) It is knocked around the cricumference Also has a small hole bore in the top Courier delivery due to value
