Atlas Bottle Vases are inspired by the Volvic water bottle with the mountain scenery design. The message of water purity embossed in plastic resin is so conflicting and hypocritical that I decided to make my own mountain landscapes with earthy clay and melting glazes. The glazes are a composition of 6 glazes and oxides that blend and fuse together at 1220 degrees c in the kiln. The whites and clear glazes melt l like an avalanche and the greens and blues are like distant horizons and dreamy places! But I like everyone to see what they see. The bottles are slip cast from plaster moulds which I make from original bottles. I love to select bottles from completely different times in history and curate them in collections together.
