From Cherchell, on the west coast of Algeria, to Paris via Algiers, Gaetan Nocq tells the story of soldier Alexandre Tikhomiroff, known as Tiko or Alex, mobilized in 1956 for the Algerian war. It is a war told through the prism of the little story, that of a conscript. He questions the doubts and sensitivity of the simple soldier Tiko caught in the movement of a war that does not mean his name. The reader is transported into a dramatic epic, punctuated by events that plunge us into the mountains of Algeria and then into the heart of Paris. It also tells the story of Alex's return to civilian life and his commitment to a Paris torn apart and threatened by the OAS attacks.
