Solgar's Omega 3-6-9 supplement is a premium blend of three essential fats derived from fish, flaxseed and borage oils. Omega 3, 6 and 9 are needed for multiple physiological functions. As our body cannot make them on its own, they need to be included in our diet. Omega 3 consists of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid), which are usually found in oily fish. It also boasts ALA (Alpha-linolenic Acid), which fish naturally convert to the all-important EPA and DHA, but our bodies can only convert small amounts. Omega 6 can be found in several oils and nuts and is made up of Linoleic Acid and Gamma-Linolenic Acid. Omega 9 can be found in food which boasts Oleic Acid like oils and nuts. Getting the right ratio of fatty acids is very important. Solgar's supplement provides a ratio of omega-3 oils from fish and flax, which are complemented by high-quality omega-6s from borage and flax oils, as well as omega-9s in the form of oleic acid (also from flax oil). Solgar's Omega 3-6-9 is molecularly distilled to remove mercury, PCBs and other heavy metal contaminants, to ensure purity and safety.
