Songs Of The Isles
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Hugh Roberton was from 1906 for almost the next 50 years the conductor of the Glasgow Orpheus choir, a famous choir at the time These songs have nearly all been arranged or adapted by him. The book has "Presentation copy" printed on the front cover and is signed by him on a presentation label on the front pastedown as a gift to an Annabel McCormick (perhaps a member of the choir). He signed it in 1951, the year before his death. The book is firmly bound. The board covers are a bit corner-bumped and edgeworn with some discolouring, the spine is a little cocked, the endpapers have some foxing. The text is clean and bright. It is undated but the foreword is dated 1950.
