Decorative plate commemorating two hundred years; from 1775 to 1975, of The United States Marines, this plate is number 1103 of two thousand made. Manufactured in bone china by Spode, the base of the plate has 'Mulberry Hall York Fine China And Crystal Specialists' on. The image of the plate has a Bald Eagle in the centre, sitting upon the world that depicts the Americas, and behind this an anchor embraced by its rope. Around the side of the plate written on banners wrapped around oak leaves, are all the wars that the US Marines have taken part in The plate sits within a robust protective case, which clips shut, and is supplied by Mulberry Hall, York, the lid has the same eagle design as the plate. Approx. Dimension: 26.6cm Diameter. Condition: Plate in very good condition, no signs of wear. There is a card with a brief outline of the Marine's history, and of Spode's, and Mulberry Hall's. This card is stained extensively with what looks like tea, and it is a little worn along the spine. There is a card certificate (slightly creased and curved) that authenticates the plate, which comes in a foxed envelop. The protective case is in very good condition, is heavily foxed inside in places, has minimal wear outwardly, and has a pale mark on.
