Limited edition of 300 copies this is copy 300. Stability it's proponents believe, is the working evolved by the lodge of Reconciliation and is thus the working which United Grand Lodge authorised in 1813. In order to explain this it is necessary to go back many years. During much of the eighteenth century there were two Grand Lodges in England. the first and the original Grand Lodge was formed by four of the very few lodges in London, on St John's Day 24th June 1717 at the Goose and Gridiron in St Paul's Churchyard. A Grand Lodge of Ireland was formed in 1725 and a Grand Lodge of Scotland formed in 1736. In 1730 many spurious catechisms and exposures of Masonry began to appear, and to guard against irregular admissions to Lodes, certain changes in the ritual were made. In 1752 with the influx of many Masons from Ireland and because of such difference a rival Grand Lodge was formed which aimed to work "according to the Antient Constitutions". To emphasise this claim it called itself the Antient Grand Lodge and termed it's rival, the Modern Grand Lodge, both designations despite the paradox, becoming recognised. In the course of time the Antients became also known as the Atholl Grand Lodge becouse for thirty years, two Dukes of Atholl (Uncle and Nephew) were it's Grand Masters.
