Set over six decades, the Standing at the Sky’s Edge musical follows three generations as they live at Park Hill estate. In 1960s Sheffield, Rose and Harry are excited to move to Park Hill, the embodiment of post-war social housing. In 1980s Sheffield, there’s Joy, a Liberian refugee who moves to the north of England. And in 2010s Sheffield, southerner Poppy flees up north to flee a broken relationship. While the highrise flats stretch up to the sky, any hope of reaching for the stars is quickly knocked back down to earth. Standing at the Sky's Edge explores the history of modern Britain, told through the struggles and triumphs of families as they face the challenges of a rapidly changing society.
