Episodes 1 and 2 of the 'Star Wars' saga. In 'The Phantom Menace' (1999) Jedi knight Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) come on a diplomatic mission to the planet Naboo, intending to open discussions between the planet's leaders and the heads of the Trade Federation. But when they are ambushed by Federation robots, they quickly realise that the negotiations are merely a cover for a hostile invasion organised by the evil Sith master. Hooking up with Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best) and Queen Padm Amidala (Natalie Portman), the Jedis manage to escape from Naboo and journey to the trade planet of Tatooine, where Qui-Gon meets a young slave boy named Anakin (Jake Lloyd), whom he identifies as a potentially powerful Jedi. 'Attack of the Clones' finds the now-teenaged Anakin (Hayden Christensen) training as a Jedi under the guidance of Obi-Wan, while the pair of them also work as bodyguards to Padm Amidala. After a failed assassination attempt, Anakin accompanies Padm back to Naboo and Obi-Wan follows the suspected assassin to the ocean planet Kamino. Meanwhile, on the desert planet Geonosis, Count Dooku (Christopher Lee) is building a powerful clone army obedient to forces who wish to bring an end to the Republic.
