The Sterling Silver & Moldavite Lariat Necklace by Small Creations Jewellery. Handmade sterling silver lariat style necklace with moldavite and various semi-precious stones, on sterling silver snake chain with hand-made clasps. A unique one-off item made in my studio in Bristol. Lariat drop length 18 inches. The centrepiece is 3cm in diameter. Ends are 7cm long and contain 5g of moldavite. This piece is from a series called 'Planets'. The centrepiece depicts the sun (citrine ) surrounded by the solar system's planets (emerald earth and various kinds of wood). Moldavite has formed 15 m years ago when a meteor impacted the area of Europe now known as Moldavia. It is becoming increasingly rare, and therefore more valuable. I thought that its extra-terrestrial origins made it ideal for this piece, and its lovely shape was perfect for the design.
