Family-owned and operated, Steve Bird is one of few Maori winemakers in New Zealand and can trace his family history back 800 years to the arrival of the Te Arawa and Mataatua canoes. The Wairau region where he crafts his wines is known by the Maori as 'kei puta te wairau' - the place with the hole in the cloud - which refers to the outstanding protection provided by the hilly landscape. This Sauvignon Blanc has clean notes of elderflower, green mango, and lime. Crisp and fresh in the classic Marlborough style, it will pair perfectly with fresh seafood, goat's cheese or lighter white meats like chicken.
