Book in near fine condition; some minor shelf-wear. Steve McCurry and Biba Giacchetti have selected a collection of his most beautiful and memorable images. For the first time, Steve McCurry discusses the backstories of his iconic images, describing them one by one, during a long conversation with Biba Giacchetti. He discusses the historical context of his images and his search for the perfect composition, and chance encounters which led to perfect portraits ranging from Sharbat Gula, the young Afghan girl, to the Kuchi nomad, stopped by Steve on the streets of Srinagar, Kashmir, while he was leading his herd of camels. Proud to be photographed, the nomadic Kuchi was selected as the cover portrait, a symbol of human dignity and pride that only Steve McCurry knows how to portray.
