Subject to Solution: Problems in Cuban-US Relations. Edited by Wayne S Smith and Esteban Morales Dominguez. Published by Reinner Publishers in the US and UK. First edition. 158pp. Hbk. This book is the result of meetings between US and Cuban scholars organised by the John Hopkins University and the University of Havana's Centre of US Studies. This was the first time a group of US and Cuban citizens had sat down to discuss in a comprehensive way a whole range of problems between the two countries. There is a short history of all the 20 American and Cuban authors who participated in the talks. There are then eight chapters detailing specific problem areas and possible solutions. The book was an important step in fostering better international relationships by discussion and negotiation rather than force. It would be a very useful tool for students of international relations. There is a foreward by George McGovern. The condition is used: very good. The boards are smart with little sign of wear and tear and the pages are clean throughout. The book is tightly bound and there are no former owner inscriptions.
