Karl Baedeker, born 1 July 1827, is a German publisher and pioneer in the business of worldwide travel guides. The guides, often referred to simply as "Baedekers" (a term sometimes used to refer to similar works from other publishers, or travel guides in general), contain, among other things, maps and introductions; information about routes and travel facilities; and descriptions of noteworthy buildings, sights, attractions and museums, written by specialists. This is the 1905/Twenty-First Edition of the handbook for travellers to Switzerland and portions of Italy, Savoy, and Tyrol. In generally good condition commensurate with age. One loose page. Binding intact and the covers are not that battered. Foxing on some pages. The pull out maps are nearly all intact and only a little folded, the first has a small rip.
