Promotion: Stewart Copeland Stewart Copeland is an American drummer and composer. Rising to prominence as the drummer in the British rock band The Police. Copeland was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 for his work with The Police. Copeland has a unique playing sound taking inspiration from the range of music genres he grew up listening to from Lebanese to Reggae. During his time in The Police Copeland brought various innovations back into prominence including Octobans created by Tama Drums in 1978 and splash cymbals used in the 1920s. Copeland plays traditional grip and provides a jazz-style articulation to his playing whilst utilising the bass drum to keep the beat. Some of Copeland’s influences include Ginger Baker Sandy Nelson and Mitch Mitchell.
