This is a volume of the higest quality with an extraordinary backstory. MacMillan 1904. This copy in excellent condition with full tooled leather binding by Riviere & Son. Gilded page edges and exquisite floral tooling to spine. Very tight. Given to the poet and prominent member of London society Louisa Nadja Green, later Louisa, Marchesa Malacrida de Saint-August. Signed dedication from her Aunt on her 10th birthday,15 June 1905. A remarkable volume with history. The binding by Riviere & Son is of exceptional quality. Riviere & Son were known for the superb workmanship and good taste in their bindings. They were largely empoyed by the Duke of Devonshire among other notable collectors of the day. They also bound for the Queen and royal family.
