The Bobbsey Twins - Laura Lee Hope. Published by World Distributors (Manchester) Limited, hardback, with dust jacket, 1955. This is the story of two sets of twins, aged 6 and 12 in this story; the principal characters in what was originally, for 75 years, the Stratemeyer Syndicate's longest-running series of American children's novels, written under the pseudonym Laura Lee Hope. The first book was published in 1904, the last in 1979. Edward Stratemeyer is believed to be the writer of the first volume in its original form; many other writers were involved with writing subsequent volumes. This volume is a British publication of the first in the series. The Stratemeyer Syndicate was a publishing company that produced a number of mystery book series for children: other series included Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and the various Tom Swift series. Condition: Fair. The pages are unevenly, and not tightly, bound in some places, and tanned and foxed inside and around the page edges. The dust jacket is suffering from considerable wear and tear, and a large piece is missing from the back cover. A handwritten name and address can be found on the page facing the frontispiece.
