The Bravest of the Brave, or, With Peterborough in Spain - G. A. Henty, page illustrations by H. M. Paget. Published by W. L. Allison Co., New York (Fireside series) Hardback (illustrated board, no dust jacket). Undated, but internet research shows 1887 for original publication date, although as this is an American edition, it is probably later than that. The author, G. A. Henty (1832 - 1902) born near Cambridge, and a prolific novelist and war correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories that were popular in the late 19th century, including this one. The story follows the main Earl of Peterborough in his campaign in Spain, through the main character. Condition: Poor. Although some of the pages are separated from the binding, this is an unusual edition. It is completely tanned throughout, especially around the edges. The front board has nice illustration (with a small red mark) and decoration on it, so does the spine although this is faded.
