Full title: The Calendars of Al-Hallowen, Brystowe. An Attempt to Elucidate Some Portions of the History of the Priory or Fraternitie of Calendars, Whose Library Once Stood Over the North, or Jesus Aisle of All Saints Church, Bristol By the Rev. Henry Rogers, M.A., VBicar of that church. The Calendars were also known as the Kalendars. Their library was, in 1464, the first 'public' library in Britain. In 1466 fire destroyed some books.The church still stands, in Corn Street, Bristol. Believed to be a first edition - 1846 - rebound in blue card covers for the Bristol Technical College Library/Brunel College. Cover corners knocked, College sticker on ffep. Pencil name and 1926 date on pre-title page, Many pages browned and spotted. Pages 83-90 loose in the binding
