The Cocker Connection
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Benjamin Cocker was a Yorkshire weaver and a Wesleyan preacher. Born in Almondbury in 1785 he lived all his life in the Huddersfield area and was buried in Mirfield. One of his sons remained in Yorkshire and became manager of the Huddersfield Bank in Dewsbury. The other four emigrated to Tasmania and Melbourne. Their adventures as pioneers, their travels across the world, and the different ways in which they left their mark all make remarkable reading. Signed by author .
