The Complete Tales from Shakespeare - Charles & Mary Lamb and J.C. Trewin. Published by the Nonesuch Press, Hardback (no dust jacket), 1966. Reprint. Nonesuch edition published in 1964. (Lambs') Tales from Shakespeare was first published in 1807 and the twelve additional tales in 1964. Tales From Shakespeare, written by siblings Charles and Mary Lamb, was originally intended to be aimed at young children. Despite its original target audience, "very young" children from the twenty-first century might find this book a challenging read. Nevertheless, the retelling of the Lamb siblings remains uniquely faithful to the original and as such can be useful to children when they read or learn the plays as Shakespeare wrote them. Nonesuch Press was a private press founded in 1922 in London. Their first book, a volume of John Donne's Love Poems, was issued in May 1923. In total, they produced more than 140 books. Condition: Very good. The pages are clean inside and tightly bound and the fore-edge is very slightly tanned. A little shelf soiling is to be found on the bottom page edges. The hard cover, despite a lack of dust jacket, is nice and bright and unfaded.
