With Life and Death. First "cheap edition" of poems by Father Southwell, an English Catholic priest of the Jesuit Order, living in the reign of Elizabeth I. He was hanged at Tyburn in 1595, for high treason and made a saint by Pope Paul VI, as one of the English martyrs, in 1970. Gilt decorated spine and front board. Bevelled boards. Dark page tops. Book plate on inside front board. Small slight marking to front board along bottom edge. Light foxing to ends of pages. Some annotations to the text in pencil.
