The Conductor And His Baton ... The Technic Of Conducting (scarce, Once Owned By Simon Streatfeild)

Merchant's Category: Media> Books
This book does 'what it says on the tin', offering the collected thoughts on the art of symphonic conducting from a well-respected Russian/Ukrainian conductor. The ideas expressed have formed the basis of symphonic conducting technique ever since. Nicolai Andreyevich Malko (1883-1961) was a Russian-born American symphonic conductor. After the outbreak of World War II, in 1940, Malko settled in the United States, where he taught conducting. His thoughts on conducting technique were published in "The Conductor and his Baton" in1950. Simon Nicolas Streatfeild (1929-2019) was a British-Canadian violist, conductor and teacher. Our book is in good condition, considering its age, the only signs of wear being to the exterior covers, which are somewhat mottled with ?damp spots, and a little torn and damaged to the spine. The main point of interest is the name 'Simon Streatfeild' inscribed at the top of the front cover. Inside, the sewn binding is firm with no loose pages; all pages clean and bright; no foxing.
