The Cotter's Saturday Night ( A Book To Mark Burn's Night )
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
Burns wrote "The Cotter's Saturday Night" at his farm near Mauchline, during the winter of 1785-86. In this book the poem is inscribed by R Aitken, Esq., and illustrated with enchanting drawings by A. S. Boyd. Each drawing is shown on a page alongside a line from the poem. The covers have a range of general wear marks and soiling, with scuffs and bumps. Corners and spine ends are bumped and worn. Rubbing wear to edges and spine hinges. Noticeable bump to rear lower edge Several paper breaks in the block but the binding remains secure. Some pages have light finger marks; closed tears to the upper edges on pp. 30 & 39. Free end papers age toned. Gift inscriptions on two front free end papers. An interesting item for Burns enthusiasts and collectors.
