Blue textured cloth covered boards with gilt titles and decoration to spine. 1904. xv.416pp. Corners and spine ends rubbed and bumped, spine tanned. Faded area to front cover. Hinges to endpapers repaired with type, otherwise binding is solid and tight. Frontispiece has b/w photographic illustration, further 93 reproductions and photographs. Fold out map of Patagonia pasted in back is complete but with some tears to folds. Ex library book - book plate for Manchester Geographical Society pasted to front fixed endpaper plus stamp to title page, University of Manchester Library labels pasted to back. Thomas Holdich was President of the Royal Geographical Society from 1917 -19 and was the author of numerous books. He was engaged by the governments of Argentina and Chile in 1902 to define the boundary between them along the Andes mountains.
