Domesday Book - Volume 18: Cambridgeshire The Domesday Book was a survey of England in 1086, compiled by order of King William I of England. Listed within the Domesday Book are land holdings from every shire of the country and their value. The Phillimore translation of the Domesday Book is arranged by county, this volume being for Cambridgeshire. They have a transcript of the original abbreviated Latin on the left page and an English translation on the right page, with an index at the back of the book to help find specific people or places. These volumes do not have page numbers, because as far as possible they use the reference systems found within the Domesday Book itself. This copy has foxing and some light scratches along the top edge, the pages are otherwise undamaged. The cover has minor shelf wear.
