The Euston Arch And The Growth Of The London, Midland & Scottish Railway
Merchant: Oxfam
Merchant's Category: Media> Books
This book is both a memorial and a protest. It is a memorial to the pioneering days of the railways, and to the Euston Arch as a symbol of the lines developed in the nineteenth century which later formed the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. It is also a passionately eloquent protest, by two well-known architects, at the loss of a famous London landmark, at the events which led to its demolition in 1961, and at official complacency and obduracy. Hardback in fair condition with some markings on back cover. No dust cover.
