Forward Teddy Wakelam needs no introduction, for his voice is better known to Rugby Football enthusiasts than that of anyone else connected with the game. His broadcasts of important matches have brought intense pleasure to mant of those who have been unable to attend in person but have listened in, and, whilst seated in their armchairs before a cheery fire, they have probaly spent a much more enjoyable afternoon than the actual spectators. Wakelam's thorough knowledge of the game and his instantaneous appreciation of the situation, combined with his very sound criticisms, strongly suggest that he must have been a first-class player himself. this, is fact, is the case, and in any ordinary year at Cambridge he would have obtained his blue. As it was, he had the misfortune to be in residence when six Cambridge forwards had international caps, so that he had to be passed over, much to the regret of the Captain, who happened to be myself. His position when playing for the Harlequins, and afterwards his work in connection with the game , has brought him in contact with a multitude of Rugby Footballers, many of whom he has persuaded to contribute to his very complete Rugger Book.
