Back in the 1820s, making Spirits was illegal as hell in Scotland, so George Smith moved to the remote and isolated Livet valley to start his hush-hush business. The dram was so (in)famously delicious, even King George IV wanted to try it when he visited Scotland. Shortly, distilling became legal and Mr. Smith became the first honest distiller in the parish of Glenlivet. Even Charles Dickens, sipping on the "rare old Glenlivet" in the smoky town of London, realized the Scotch goes beyond his great expectations. The rest is history. But hey, history is still being made. The Glenlivet launched a chic and exclusive first fill expression of its 12YO. Now, the standard 12YO is quite extraordinary, but this special edition is extravagant. It is the first ever limited edition release of the Glenlivet First Fill in the US. A unique 12YO is matured solely in first fill American oak casks. The golden potion brings the perfect balance of late summer flowers and ripe fruit aromas of autumn. The Glenlivet is already Numero Uno in the U.S., but this rare and limited Single Malt will fortify its position as the fella that knows a thing or two about Scotch and innovation.
