Uniformly bound in blue cloth with the title in gilt on the spine and a crest on the front board; 8vo.; Vol I [cxxxvii] 124 pp; Vol II [vi] 225 pp; Vol III [vii] 216 pp; Vol IV [x] 244 pp; Vol V [x] 263. Volume I includes an essay upon the Heptameron by George Saintsbury and a portrait frontispiece of Margaret by Clouet. The set includes the original seventy-three full-page engravings designed by S Freudenberg and the one hundred and fifty head and tail pieces by Dunker. The boards show slight shelf-wear but the bindings are tight and all the engravings are tissue-guarded. Each volume has the original owners name on the ffep, dated 1908; Volume I also has a subsequent owner's name dated 1919.
